Alright, it's time to announce the Brain Power Awards for 2000. There are three awards:

  1. The discovery that took the most ingenuity, cleverness, and memory to discover.
  2. The discovery that had the most impact on the hobby.
  3. The biggest fanatic of the year, in terms of time, energy, devotion, and pure craziness.

--------------------------------------------------------------
(1) After much deliberation by the committee, it is deemed that the nominations for the the ingenuity category are:

And the winner is..........

FRANCIS!

Congratulations! That was one hell of a feat of brain power!

--------------------------------------------------------------
(2) The impact award was easier, there was basically no contest here, the winner is

SPENCER

... it is the guy who discovered the Wacky Pack warehouse in Philadelphia, and clearly nothing has had more impact on the hobby since 1973. He doesn't want his full name known.

--------------------------------------------------------------
(3) This is a tough one. Back in 1998 or 1999 there were so many qualifiers for this, but 2000 definitely saw a severe waning in terms of big shot fanatics, nobody left the hobby, but the tone sure has decreased. So the nominations for 2000 are

And the winner is........

TOM MOORE!

Congratulations!

At first Eric was favored by the committee, however recollection that he couldn't remember the tag line on his favorite wacky made them question his geuniness, so he was bumped to 3rd place. Maybe next year.
