How about drinking a bottle of "Gutterade" and eating a "Sneakers" bar while reading your favorite magazine, "Martha Skewered Living Behind Bars"?
Topps Co. Inc., best known for its sports trading cards, has revived its Wacky Packages, a set of stickers poking fun at some of today's best-known products.
Kids who grew up in the '60s and '70s might well remember Fibby's-Fibby's-Fibby's Liar's Juice (Libby's); Hurtz Tomato Ketchup (Heinz); or Big Muc (McDonald's Big Mac). The stickers were popular for school notebooks, clipboards or refrigerators (much to moms' dislike).
The newly released 55-sticker set of parodies goes beyond regular household products with Hairy Patter (for Harry Potter), Old Batz (Bratz dolls) and My Little Phony (My Little Pony), for instance. It follows the relaunch last year of Garbage Pail Kids, another strong Topps product from the mid-80s.
In addition to the regular set, there are nine clear-cling stickers and 10 tattoos. Each six-sticker pack has a suggested retail price of 99 cents. Wacky Packages are available at hobby shops, such as Maverick's Baseball Cards & Comics, Finneytown and Tri-County Mall; Planet Collectibles, Florence; Queen City Comic and Card Co., Pleasant Ridge and Fairfield; and Collectors Connection, White Oak. Some retail chains also carry them.
Topps says it expects Wacky Packages to be popular not only with kids but also baby-boomer collectors.
